i recently got to play a show with two of my new favorite bands; the hot damns from richmond va, and the radials, from greenboro. awesome talent, check them out if you get the chance!

txakoli and sugar grove
the first annual txakoli fest was a smashing success! (yes , some glass was broken, and plenty of wine spilled, some in my fiddler's eye!)
we had 7 musical acts, and lots of txakoli wine, great food, and a groovy red hat (envision an over-sized red beret with a 6 inch tassel pointing straight up from the top) sported by owner/ partner matt beason!
i got to play the songwriter showcase at sugar grove fest, in the mountains near boone, n.c., where the legendary doc watson makes an annual appearance. unfortunately, doc was ill, and so i can still not say i've played in the same place as doc. i hope he's well soon.

new cd due in late 2008
my next cd, tentatively titled 'mom's apple pie' is scheduled for release in late 2008. we'll be putting up a page allowing people to become sponsors for the disc, along the lines of what richad shindell and lucy kaplansky have done recently to raise funds for recording. more tba.
the cd will feature new originals and a few old-timey folk tunes, and special guest musicians from carolina and beyond.

i'm excited to announce the recent acquisition of a 1982 mercedes 300d station wagon, which will carry me to gis near and far powered on waste vegetable oil, (wvo) whee!

ny tour notes
i got to play some shows in ny this month, adding another house concert to the "100 house concerts tour" tally. the show at grassroots dandelion collective was relaxed, intimate, and fun, with plenty of pink lemonade on hand! i also did a fun noontime show in cortland at the blue frog, with friends from my syracuse childhood dropping in, and my best friend from when i was 10 stopped by a show i played in ithaca at the lost dog lounge!
