...at the cave in chapel hill with michael bacon on fiddle, and joe cutrufo playing djembe, shaker, tambourine, and even beer bottle and super-low vocals (aka invisible digeradoo).
we got to do it again at West Fest in durham, and this time Rah Trost joined us on mandolin and djembe. Rah's an original folk star, and played and sang on the record, so it was good to have her back in the fold! West Fest was great, lots of people, having fun outdoors. we improvised a set list, and I kicked off my shoes and played barefoot for awhile!

The house concert at Kevin and Mel's in apex, NC, was an outdoor affair, and Kevin built a stage just for the event. It was nice to hear people singing along with 'woman at a gas station', and i even got a request to play 'she's a man', that was a first!

The train runs pretty close to K + M's yard, which I didn't know until i opened my mouth to sing the first chorus of 'hole in my heart'  and it came rushing past behind the stage in the dark!

I got to play at a benefit for Umstead Park in Raleigh NC, another outdoor show, and on a beautiful day! Lots of other good songwriters played there too; jon batson, bett padgett, anthony neff and others. the organizers fed us, which was nice. i had the most awesome home-made energy bar, i wish i could remember who made it!

next durham show: 5/24 at broad st. cafe, memorial day extrvaganza with 7 local folk/roots acts!
