is that your real name?

... so i just say "yes."

the story:
mark cool was born mark good jutton, son of michael good jutton and elizabeth jane jutton, nee cool.
mark's parents divorced when he was 6, and his mom took her birth name, cool, back. she told mark that he could do the same, but he remained loyal to his dad. mark's mom moved in with his uncle, dik cool, and dik's girlfriend, diane, after the divorce. this household eventually joined another and became the grassroots/dandelion collective, where mark grew up.
throughout his childhood, mark's grandparents, raymond and esther cool, would visit for a month or so each summer. ray cool would rent a cabin on ontario lake for a 2 week family vacation each summer, which was great fun. mark and liz and dik, and mark's little brother would often go to stay with ray and esther in florida to escape from the harsh syracuse winters. cool's memories of his time with his mother's parents are some of his happiest.

mark's dad died when he was 16.  a few years later, his grandmother jutton (his dad's mom) died, and there was a mad scramble for her family fortune in which mark's aunt's family somehow managed to cut mark and his brother out of their rightful shares of the inheritance. they had been slated to get their father's part of the substantial estate.

after mark had his first child, he realized that the name he wanted to pass on was not jutton, the family that he was estranged from, and had never been very close to, but cool, the family who had always been there for him and represented love and support, and happy times to him.

yes it is a cool name, (that's been said a few times) and people often disbelieve that it's real, make the same comments over and over, and get self-conscious when they use the expression, "cool" in mark's presence, but the real reason he carries it is out of loyalty to a family that nurtured him, and legacy to his children.

the origin of the name is seems to be german, and was probably spelled differantly before ellis island.
cool's great-great grandfather, truman cool was the first cool of his family to america in the late 1800's. Edit
