driving with one contact lens:
...since i didn't bring any contact lens stuff, it seemed like a good idea to put my lenses in a cup of water while i slept. when the alarm went off (way too soon) and i stumbled in to put on my lenses, one was ripped in half! (oops, i didn't notice when i took them out.) i decided not to tell catherine, (who refused to drive on the left side of the road), that i'd be driving back down the winding roads, in the dark, in the rain, on a two lane highway with no divider in most places, with one blurry eye and one blurrier eye. (the water didn't do my lens very well, and i was a bit dehydrated too.)
we survived a sometimes harrowing drive. the number of giant rabbits on both sides of the road through most of the highlands was surreal! i was sure happy to get to edinburgh and put a pair of glasses on! i returned the rental car with the flat tire in the trunk (another story), and made the flight with a few minutes to spare! (no pun intended.)
